We are excited to announce the grand opening of our new website loaded with new-to-us features. We’ve added a secure shopping cart for building semi-custom bikes, storing information for custom builds, and ordering accessories. The bike builder tool lets customers choose frame size, groupset, crank lengths, stem lengths, handlebar widths, saddles, tires, accent colors, frame couplers, and other upgrades. For the bike builder, pick a model here (https://cycleschinook.com/our-bikes/) then hit “Customize Your Adventure”. Fully custom bikes continue to require extensive discussion, but we can get some of the basic details started on the new custom order form (https://cycleschinook.com/our-bikes/full-custom/order/). Shoppers are encouraged to create an account to save their progress.
We’re also introducing two new semi-custom tandem bike models. The models — simply called “Road” and “Gravel” — are based on the most requested custom features over the past two years. They’re each intended to be versatile machines with performance-oriented titanium frames, capable of handling everything from racing to loaded touring within their genre; fitting a wide range of 700c and 650b tires; and compatible with popular components. The Road model is responsive to pedaling and steering input with agile handling and a stiff drivetrain. The Gravel model has more stable handling for confidence on rough terrain, and clears a massive 27.5 x 2.8” tire. The Road model includes a Colab carbon fork and optional Gates timing belt, while the Gravel model uses a titanium fork and right side timing chain.
The 8 frame sizes should cover a wide range of duos, including those with taller stokers than captains. Two build levels are currently listed: SRAM Rival 22 and SRAM Red eTap HRD. The bikes can also include 0, 1 or 2 sets of couplers plus all the required cable splitters, frame padding, and cases for transporting the bike. Upgrade options currently bolt-on frame bag mounts and a carbon rim upgrade. We expect the list of gruppos and standard upgrades to grow as special requests come in. Complete bike prices range from $9,200 (base Rival 22) to $13,600 with the works. Bikes are all made to order after a 50% deposit is placed.
The webstore includes a few other accessories unique to Cycles Chinook: a lightweight eccentric bottom bracket for 30mm spindles; a coupler wrench multitool; and an extended derailleur cage for SRAM Red eTap 22. Each of these components fills a need that we’ve found in the market. Cycles Chinook remains passionately committed to building fully custom bicycles personalized to each rider’s adventure. Dealer and B2B inquiries are welcome. Follow Cycles Chinook on Facebook or Instagram for more updates. Share this with your friends before their next tandem purchase.
